Who is ₿esotted?

She first heard the word Bitcoin when it was unexpectedly whispered in her ear, deep in the Amazon jungle in Peru.

During a ceremonial journey with the Shipibo tribe and the native medicinal plant Ayahuasca, the spirit of the plant shared a message with her: “Sell everything and buy Bitcoin.”

Understandably, taking financial advice from a psychedelic plant seemed like a ridiculous idea — so she ignored the mysterious message.

That was November 2017, and BTC had just reached a price of $1,004.

Three years later, in 2020, while unexpectedly stranded on an island in Thailand due to COVID, Bitcoin bounced back into her life. With time on her hands, she began studying the monetary system, spending hundreds of hours exploring the destructive impact of inflationary abuse and the collective trauma of a FIAT monetary system — one that appears to have harmed us all.

Slowly, she became ₿esotted.

Fascinated by the evolution of money — from gold to code — she began to see Bitcoin's potential. More than simply a new form of money, she became interested in its potential to close the gender wealth gap for women, and how it could provide a lifeline to financial independence, autonomy and freedom, especially for those trapped in coercive or financially abusive relationships.

Back in the Amazon jungle, Ayahuasca had given her another message: to pick up a brush and create art again.

Creativity had flowed through her veins since childhood. She would spend hours tracing Disney cartoons so she could draw them by hand, and happily transformed clay, cake icing, mud, sand, papier-mâché and everyday objects into sculptures and gifts for family and friends. 

After Art College, her canvas expanded. She began designing immersive event experiences, graphics and advertising campaigns for BBC Worldwide Publishing and other major UK brands. She later curated two striking fine-art exhibitions — the Frank Worth and Playboy Legacy Collections — both of which premiered in the USA.

Since then, ₿esotted has transformed walls, buildings, billboards and campervans, decorating, renovating and reshaping neglected spaces into places that inspire beauty, restoration and delight.

Now, her canvas has expanded again.

The Shift from Gold to Code is her debut collection exploring the evolution of money — from physical to digital, from centralised systems to monetary sovereignty, and from exclusion to inclusion. Across twenty-one works, ₿esotted examines the highs, lows, claims and contradictions that emerge as society shifts, sometimes painfully, from one monetary paradigm to another.

₿esotted hopes the collection will spark conversations that inspire curiosity, education, and participation, especially among women: encouraging them to explore the voices of industry leaders such as Cathie Wood — who defied the conventions of a male-dominated Wall Street, founding ARK Invest at the age of 57 and building it into a multi-billion-dollar company focused on investing in disruptive technologies.

In Cathie’s words, “Bitcoin is a financial super highway.” She has repeatedly advised investors to “make a shift from gold into Bitcoin.”
